An unusual case has been taking place in Italy lately and it directly influences the safety of many, including the US military installations located on Italian soil. A far-left clandestine formation known as “The New Italian Communist Party” (NPCI), certainly not new, but on sleeping mode for quite a few years, suddenly went into full operability after the October 7th massacre, mainly through the dissemination of subversive and terrorist narrative and propaganda utilizing its website in Italian language.
Among other things, the NPCI has been promoting the subversion of the democratic order by invoking the overthrow of the Meloni-government and the establishment of a Communist regime; it has been spreading pro-Hamas propaganda and the idolization of Yahya Sinwar. The NPCI also invokes the struggle against Israel, NATO and US military forces in Italy by providing information on their facilities. In particular, the ones located in the north-east of the country such as the U.S. bases in Aviano and Vicenza, as indicated in a notice dated November 12th 2024.
The NCPI defined the State of Israel as “Zionist State” and all those who support it as “Zionist entity”: “With the term Zionist Entity we indicate the set of groups (overt and covert) of businessmen, speculators, banks, investment funds, companies and their managers, men of culture, information and politics, professionals (lawyers, technical consultants, notaries, doctors, engineers, etc.), military and paramilitary, associations, pressure groups, etc. that support the Zionist State of Israel in the work of colonization of Palestine and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians, but who also operate outside Palestine for this purpose, in particular in imperialist countries such as the USA, Italy, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, etc”.
In addition, the NPCI published a blacklist with Italian and Israeli companies, as well as Italian and Jewish politicians, academics, diplomats, journalists, and activists, all accused of being “Zionists” and “on Israel’s payroll”. The list also includes prominent Italian MPs from both the majority and the opposition as well as ministers of the Meloni government.
Strangely enough, the website is still up and running, while there is no info about any arrest so far made by the Italian authorities, despite the extreme concern for the NPCI’s activity.
NPCI, its “twin” public group CARC and the connection with the Arab-Palestinian Democratic Union
The New Italian Communist Party has been receiving constant public support from the far-left group “Committee for the Support of Communist Resistance (CARC)” and the Arab-Palestinian Democratic Union (UDAP) and it could not be any different, since they share the same ideology.
As explained by the Italian investigative journalist, Francesca Galici, for “Il Giornale”, CARC was founded in early 1993 by Giuseppe Maj (born in 1939 in the Bergamo province) following a congress held in Viareggio in November 1992 and promoted by members of the Centro di Documentazione Filo Rosso. The objective of the new committee was to play a vanguard role among the proletarian masses, inspired by revolutionary Marxism-Leninism. In January 1999, the Preparatory Commission for the Founding Congress of the New Italian Communist Party was established. In March of that same year, the commission released a new publication, most likely authored by Maj, called “La Voce del Nuovo Partito Comunista” (The Voice of the New Communist Party), where the new party claimed the need to act underground. In 1999, Maj left his position as national secretary of the CARC to join the NPCI’s clandestine activity. He was replaced by Pietro Vangeli, a Milan-based chemical engineer originally from the Calabrian province.
Giuseppe Maj was arrested for the first time in Paris, together with Giuseppe Czppel, in 2003 for subversive association and production of false identity documents, as well as for logistical links with the Spanish terrorist group called Grapo.
Is NPCI really clandestine?
NPCI is so “clandestine” that it has a running website that was never taken down by the authorities. The question is: why?
In its opening page, the references to the blacklists of “Zionist agents”, Sinwar’s testament and US and NATO military bases are easily accessible.
The NPCI website even indicates an alleged “safe way” to communicate with its directive by using TAILS. A security-focused Debian-based Linux distribution aimed at preserving privacy and anonymity against surveillance.
The NPCI, whose listed address is a post office building in Paris St. Denis, even bragged online about its secrecy and clandestine activity.
However, realistically speaking, it is very difficult to believe that the NPCI is truly clandestine, just as it is unlikely that its leaders actually believe that they are unknown to the authorities. After all, a subversive revolutionary formation that is free to report targets and spread propaganda which is clearly dangerous to the democratic order using a publicly accessible website with “safe” contacts is something so absurd that it cannot fail to raise serious doubts and one main question: what’s really behind all this?
We can only imagine what would have happened if a pro-ISIS website had done the same thing. The authorities would have most likely immediately taken it down. However, regarding the NPCI, things seem to be different.
