The second Trump Administration is well underway with the contrasts to the previous four years very noticeable.
There are several crucial reasons for this. First off has to be the term of former President Joe Biden. Although Mr. Biden campaigned as a moderate and pledged to unify the country after the COVID pandemic, his term espoused many of the policies promoted by the far left wing of the Democratic Party. One of the methods used was the lawfare against Mr. Trump. This tactic would haunt and create blowback against the Democrats.
Since Donald Trump has been reelected as President have there been any changes? That answer is a resounding yes. One of the challenges of his victory in 2016 was the surprise in nominating and vetting candidates to fill his Cabinet. The process to properly vet candidates for the first term seemed to be tedious and resulted in high turnover. In contrast the 2024 campaign already had candidates vetted and prepared so far for the confirmation hearings in the Senate. They also had the opportunity to monitor the political and economic climate from outside the Beltway provided ample opportunity to also craft an agenda and lead to a successful campaign
Another interesting aspect is keeping his promises. One critique of American politicians is that they over promise and under deliver. We know how some of the decisions made by President Biden caused both financial hardship to American consumers and the Afghanistan withdrawal created the opportunities for renewed conflict in the Middle East and likely opened the doors for the renewed Russian Operations in Ukraine. Some of the first actions taken by the returning Trump Administration were rescinding some of the Executive Orders and Mandates by the Biden Administration which were ultimately harmful to the public.
One area where there has been rapid movement has been in the Immigration crisis. One way that has played out has been in the decrease in the number of migrants that have been approaching the southern border of the United States. A second movement was actually delivered by Congress with both bodies passing the Lankin Riley act which makes it easier and mandates how illegal migrants can be arrested for criminal offenses. This is both a victory for President Trump and an promise kept.
Another promise made by then Candidate Trump was that illegals would be rounded up and deported. Starting on the day after the inauguration a nationwide effort began to take those illegals that have been connected to activities that have been committed by violent gangs and even smugglers. Most of those that have been taken into custody have been males. The political opposition has appeared to be hoping for the optics of having women and children taken into custody. That hasn’t happened yet however that situation could well happen in the future.
The keeping of promises that were made leads into another key factor which has so far identified the second Trump Administration. That is the concept of speed. That factor connects all of the promises that were made and are being kept. The roll out of the hundreds of EOs which were already drawn up and waiting for the signature of the President was a crucial factor of the return of President Trump.
The major concern regarding President Trump will be the limits of his office. Under the terms of Constitution He will not be eligible to run for a third term. Therefore the first two years this term will be the most crucial. After the 2026 Midterm elections President Trump will be a lame duck for the next two years of the term. What will play out for that timeframe has yet to be determined. But it will present epic social media posts.
