AGAIN: Four persons killed as bandits kidnap Zamfara college students

No fewer than four persons were believed to have died as unidentified gunmen suspected to be bandits abducted many students and teachers in Zamfara State.

According to report, the bandits had raided Zamfara College of Agriculture in Bakura Local Government Area Council of the state on Sunday when the ugly incident occurred.

Atiku Aliyu Hakura, the college Deputy Registrar, confirmed the incident to BBC Hausa on Monday morning.

The Registrar was quoted as saying that four persons, including a policeman and three gate guards, died in the attack.

Despite that the Zamfara State Police Command are yet to give an update on the attack, the registrar said that about 15 students, a teacher, and his wife were kidnapped.

Recall that the Police Command in Zamfara State on July 11, confirmed the abduction of Provost, College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Bakura Burkullu.

The Police Public Relation Officer in Zamfara State, Mohammed Shehu made the confirmation during an interview with journalists in Gusau.

He assured the general public that “The entire area has been combed by security personnel and very soon, the victims will be rescued and the perpetrators will be arrested and brought to book.”

The Deputy Registrar of the college, stated that the college provost and one other school teacher were kidnapped in their residents at Government Secondary School, Bakura.

Aliyu said the abductors had to break the window of the provost’s house to gain access into it, adding that the school teacher kidnapped was his neighbour.

However, they were released four days after they were abducted.
